The man charged with the rape and murder of Israeli exchange student Aiia Maasarwe has appeared at a Melbourne court for a brief hearing. Codey Hermann, 20, made his second appearance in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court over the death of Ms Maasarwe, whose body was found in the north Melbourne suburb of Bundoora on January 16. Hermann did not speak during the hearing and did not apply for bail. Ms Maasarwe’s body is expected to be released by the Victorian coroner on Monday.
